The Hare and Hound Rally is a free road rally put on by the Iowa Jeep Club for Iowa Jeep Club Members. The rally is free to participate with any vehicle 4×4 or not but you must be a member of the Iowa Jeep Club. You can register to become a member here: http://www.iowajeepclub.com/online-membership/

The rally is set. We have a starting point, the Gilbert Middle School parking lot, 201 E Mathews Dr, Gilbert, IA 50105. Registration will open at the school at 12:30pm. We will have a driver’s meeting at 1:00pm to go over the rally instructions, which you will receive a copy of at registration. Be sure to bring your driver’s license for registration. The ending point is a short distance away and the school is allowing us to leave camping trailers in the lot for the afternoon. The route takes about 2 1/2 hours to drive if you make no mistakes.

The rally is a Hare and Hounds rally with checkpoints. Instructions will be given on how the rally is to be run, but the idea is to follow a defined route by making correct guesses at turns with the vehicle with the lowest mileage correct route, and the correct answers to checkpoints along the way, wins. This is not a speed event! We have awards for the top 3 finishers.

The end point has room for camping, both tent camping and trailer camping. If you’re wanting to bring a large motorhome, that can be accommodated but let me know ahead of time. We will be grilling and will be providing the grill, burgers, brats, and buns. Please bring a side dish and your own drinks. There is a porta-john at the end and also at several checkpoints along the way.
